We all know we need to drink more water. So water you waiting for? Grab a bottle you dehydrated bitch.
‘Up to 60% of the human body is water. The brain and heart is 73%, lungs 83%, skin 64%, muscles and kidneys 79% and bones 31%’
You are literally made of water.
I’m my own experience I’ve seen so many benefits of being constantly hydrated.
I train almost everyday in one capacity or another whether that be in my garage gym, playing football, running around after my son or working and creating content.
If I’m not hydrated when I try to do these exercises my performance and mood goes rapidly downhill.
I have always worked late and started early in my various jobs doing shift work, and I used to reach for a Red Bull, Lucozade or cheap energy drink EVERY DAY.
I tested the idea of just drinking 500ml-1000ml of water first thing in the morning and I recognised how much more alert, energised and focused I felt.
Different to my usual wanting to punch the fuck out of a wall, when I didn’t have enough change for the vending machine and was yawning every 5 minutes.
When you wake up, drink a cold pint of water before you do anything else. You can mix some dilute juice in there if you don’t like the taste.
Could not be any easier for you.
Why drink water cold?
Drink water cold and the body uses additional calories/energy to heat the water to body temperature.
If you form the habit of drinking water, you’ll see a huge difference in your physical and cognitive performance, concentration, mood, potential headache relief if your screen watching all day as well as making you feel more satiated and less hungry.
Studies have shown that being hydrated can increase metabolism:
If you drink 2 litres of water a day you can burn an extra 96 cals per day.
Another study shows that if you drink 500ml of water 30 mins before meals, dieters lost 44% more weight over 12 weeks.
That’s some pretty shweet evidence.
Drinking tea, sports drinks etc can all contribute to getting your daily allowance of water.
You can always dilute juice as well, that’s what I do because I’m soft and don’t like water.
There’s around 5 calories in dilute juice when you do 25ml dilute and 225ml water.
That totals a quarter of a litre if you’re not good at maths.
Depending on your age you’ll require a different amount from someone else. I inputted this information from the HealthLine website for you ⬇️
Men – 19 years and older 13 cups, or 104 total ounces (3 litres)
Women – 19 years and older – 9 cups, or 72 total ounces (2.2 litres)
If you are working out or training as well you’ll need more, or if it’s hot and you are sweating you will need more. If you drink within those ranges everyday though, you’ll generally be in a good place.
One last thing..
Do not drink too much before bed time if you haven’t managed to get all your litres in, as you might P yourself and will almost certainly have a disturbed nights sleep.
Just get back on it in the morning and rehydrate first thing.
